Pearson’s Room

So… the one and only room in our little house that is ALMOST done is Pearson’s room.  Of course the baby’s room is the most important, right?! As soon as we learned the gender of our little peanut, the planning began.  Our house was built in 1928, so it came with some lovely pink tile in the guest bath. Having said that, I wasn’t too keen on having half of the rooms in our home PINK. (I think my husband appreciates that *wink*) Anyway… I wanted a classy baby room. Is that an oxymoron? As I searched for beautiful and soothing baby decor, it was all pink, blue, chocolate brown, yellow and green. Not a ton of options there. So of course I wanted an all WHITE nursery! Crazy? ABSOLUTELY! My friend, Kristin, gave me the validation I was yearning for. She said, “If you can wash it, it doesn’t matter what color it is!”. DONE AND DONE!!
So here is the result:

We remodelled our little kitchen to have an open concept space and that involved a stainless steel refrigerator. Did you know that magnets don’t work on stainless steel?? Where was I to display P’s art? Our house is seriously all windows and doors so I must be very judicious with my wall space. Art gets some precious real estate around here! So here is the first of my Small Space Solutions: I wanted a great bulletin board for art, pictures, invitations, etc… and also be large enough to hold her homecoming mums (if they still do that in 2023…I can’t believe I just typed that year). We ordered a bulletin board from Sam’s and bought some great fabric from Childress, took it to Michael’s with a 60% off coupon for some framing. If you don’t feel like going the DIY route, check out these awesome bulletin boards from Ballard Designs. I particularly love the sisal covered one by Suzanne Kasler.

P.S. We had a mirror installed behind her dutch door so she will have an awesome runway to check her threads for many years to come!

  1. Seriously the most beautiful nursery ever! If you’ll send me pdf’s of the first three pictures I would love to put them on my blog with a link back to you!! I need to make the pics a little bigger for my format, if possible. Great post!

  3. Amy – I love it all. Love your Tiffany blue color and the white baby room. So fancy! I have friend who had two BUSY boys and decorated in all white French motif. I thought she was crazy, but she said, “jokes on you all with the colors. When these get dirty I can clean it all with bleach!” Eager to see your next projects!

  4. Love it! My 6-week-old’s nursery is only halfway done as we moved a couple week’s before he came. But I’m hoping to get it finished and pics posted. BTW I love what you did with the door for his room. Great solution rather than getting a gate. We’re renting so I prob can’t do the same but love the idea!

  8. Love all the “white”, it’s nice. The Dutch door is great, it’s so low – great for “little people”. Did you make it or buy it from a company like Woodstar Products?

    • Thank you, Kelly! We were lucky and the door is actually original to the house. We live in a 1928 Tudor, so it has some neat archetectural features. Thank you for mentioning Woodstar Products! We have had several comments on the Dutch door and I know people will be interested to check out their products!

  9. I linked over from Houzz to read more about the gorgeous nursery. You did an amazing job. It’s like nothing else I’ve seen. Really impressive.

  15. Please please please tell me where you got that sheepskin rug…and is it real sheepskin or faux….I try to be animal freindly :)

  16. Love the room. It’s beautiful. Im particularly smitten with roman blinds, can you share what color they are, I saw you mentioned Hampton bay. Also any chance you can share what color sheep skin rug, is it white or cream? Can’t wait to see more pictures of your home.

    • Thank you so much! They are Hampton Bay. I need to go back to Home Depot and get the exact name of the product to share with you. The sheep skin rug is white, but has some variations of white/cream depending what light you have. Thank you for stopping by my blog! I am thrilled and can’t wait to share more with you!

    • Thank you, April! I have also looked for it online, and couldn’t find it. I actually bought it from a neighbor of mine. I knew she would only be in it for a few years, and I’d rather splurge on the big girl bed!

  17. I ADORE this nursery!! My house was built in 1925, so I absolutely understand about the precious real estate of walls to hang art!! Anyway, where did you find your crib bedding?? I’m having trouble finding all white. Thanks!!

    • Thank you so much, Stephanie! I actually purchased all of the crib bedding at Babies R Us, if you can believe it. The bumper is Carter’s and it’s just that minky dot fabric that is so popular. I purchased a white and cream bed skirt and layered them because neither one were exactly right but together the color is perfect and it gives more volume. It’s really a mix of whatever I could find because I couldn’t find all white in a set either. I’m glad I didn’t spend a mint or have anything made because I throw it in the washing machine at will! Much easier to do when you don’t spend tons of $$ and it’s made for that :)

  19. Hi there,

I have yet another question, just wondering if you used a corner bracket for the drapery. I can’t quite see how the corner comes together from the photos :) Thanks in advance! :)

  20. I love the nursery, it is very classic and i like the calm ambiance that it projects.
    Well done!

i would like to know where did you get the chandelier, pouf and mirror?

  21. This is so beautiful and the best part is even my husband likes it!!! I checked over at Houzz and saw that the curtains were West Elm. Can I ask what shade you ordered, the ivory or white? Also what length? I know the length will depend on my ceiling height, but I was just curious how tall those beautiful drapes really are!

  23. I am keeping my fingers crossed I have a girl so I can copy this beautiful room! Thanks for sharing all your sources. Where did you get the cabinet with baskets? I have seen something similar at IKEA, but nothing with those cute baskets that fit perfectly.
